What Is Continuous Zipper Chain?
Continuous zipper chain is supplied by the metre or foot and cut during production. It allows workshops to prepare different zipper lengths from one chain stock rather than purchasing a separate ready-length zipper for every product.
The chain, slider, cutting allowance and end preparation must be planned as one system. Equal size labels do not automatically guarantee slider compatibility.

Nylon Coil Zipper Chain
Nylon coil chain uses a continuous spiral element and provides flexibility for bags, wallets, cushions, cases and curved closures.

#3 Nylon Coil Chain
#3 chain corresponds to the finer Turkish Type 5 product family. It may suit wallets, inner pockets, cushions and small textile accessories.
#5 Nylon Coil Chain
#5 chain corresponds to the Turkish Type 10 nylon product family. It may suit handbags, backpacks, equipment cases and more visible medium-profile closures.
#10 Nylon Coil Chain
#10 chain corresponds to the heavy Turkish Type 20 nylon product family used for tents, tarpaulins, awnings and large technical textile closures.
Molded Plastic Continuous Chain
Molded continuous chain uses separate plastic teeth rather than a spiral coil. It may be considered for decorative products, bags, tent panels, tarps and technical covers.
A molded chain requires a slider designed for its exact tooth profile. Nylon coil and molded sliders must not be interchanged.
Metallic-Look Zipper Chain
Silver, nickel, antique and multicolor tooth finishes can be applied to nylon coil or molded plastic chain. A metallic appearance does not prove that the teeth are made from metal.
Use “genuine metal teeth” only where the tooth material is actually verified as metal.
TPU- and PU-Coated Chain
TPU- and PU-coated chains may be used for technical bags, outdoor cases and products where reduced surface-water entry is desired.
Coated chain does not make the completed item fully waterproof by itself. Fabric, seams, stitch holes, sliders and end construction also affect protection.

How to Calculate Chain Quantity
- Measure the actual closure path for one product.
- Add end-finishing, corner and sewing allowances.
- Multiply by the planned production quantity.
- Add sample, cutting and production waste.
- Calculate sliders separately for single- or two-slider closures.

Slider Selection
The slider joins and separates the zipper chain. It must match the chain material, profile and actual dimensions rather than only the printed size number.

Single Slider
One slider body is commonly used for wallets, cushions, bags and standard cases.
Two Sliders
Two separate slider bodies can provide access from different points on a backpack, case or large compartment.
Double-Pull Slider
A double-pull slider is one slider body with pull tabs on both sides. It may allow a tent entrance to be operated from inside and outside. It is not the same as a two-slider zipper.
How Are Cut Chain Ends Finished?
After cutting, the chain may require top stops, bottom stops, stitched blocks, fabric end tabs or another approved finishing method. The correct method depends on the chain and final product.
Always approve the end construction on a sample before production.
Common Selection Errors
- Do not assume sliders are included with every chain product.
- Do not treat #3, #5, #10 and molded chains as interchangeable.
- Do not use a coil-chain slider on molded teeth.
- Do not describe metallic-look teeth as genuine metal.
- Do not omit end, corner and cutting allowances.
- Do not confuse double-pull and two-slider constructions.
- Do not claim full waterproofing from a coated chain alone.
- Do not bulk-cut curved closures without sample testing.
